Linen & Cotton Tea Towels

Linen and cotton woven together, plus a few in pure cotton. The cotton brings a softness you feel straight away; the linen keeps the towel absorbent and quick to dry. A gentle place to start if pure linen feels a little crisp at first.

Blend or pure linen?

A linen and cotton tea towel feels softer in the hand from the first use, because cotton brings that plushness immediately rather than earning it over a year of washing. The linen in the blend keeps the towel absorbent and helps it dry faster than pure cotton would, so you get most of the practical benefit with none of the initial stiffness.

Pure linen tea towels remain the better choice for polishing glassware, since they shed no lint at all, and they outlast a blend by a comfortable margin. If the towel is going to hang by the sink and dry hands all day, the blend is the friendlier option. Most kitchens end up with both.

Care

Machine wash in cool to warm water with a gentle pH-balanced detergent, avoid bleach and harsh chemicals, then air dry or tumble on low. Leave out the fabric softener — it coats the fibres and reduces absorbency in both linen and cotton.
