Linen Napkins for Everyday and Entertaining

Cloth napkins are one of those small swaps you never undo. Linen absorbs more than cotton, releases wine and oil in an ordinary wash, and turns softer every time it comes out of the machine. Forty-six designs, a good number of them made in Canada.

Elegant 100% linen napkins neatly placed on a dining table, eco-friendly and reusable

Made in Canada, and where the rest come from

A good number of the napkins in this collection are made in Canada, including the Laurel, Casa, Sutton, Tuile, Finestra, Austin, Dixon and Barnville designs, several of them cut and sewn to order. The remainder come from trusted partners abroad who work to the same standard. Every product page states the origin, so you always know what you are buying.

Why cloth napkins are worth the switch

A set of linen napkins pays for itself in a season and keeps going for a decade. Linen absorbs more than cotton and dries faster, which is precisely what a napkin is asked to do, and it releases food and wine in a normal wash rather than holding onto them. The fibre also softens with every laundering, so the set you buy today is at its best in a few years' time.

Sizes and how many to buy

Dinner napkins are generous enough to sit across a lap rather than perch on it. For everyday use, a set of six covers a family with spares in rotation; for entertaining, eight to twelve means you never think about it. Smaller cocktail napkins are a separate thing entirely, sized for a glass and a hand.

Styling

The simplest rule for a table that looks considered: keep the tablecloth quiet and let the napkins carry the colour. One neutral cloth then works through every season, and you change the mood with napkins alone.

Care

Machine wash in cool to warm water with a gentle pH-balanced detergent, avoid bleach and harsh chemicals, then air dry or tumble on low. Press while slightly damp if you want a crisp finish.
